Getting the seat height right makes all the difference between a bar area that feels comfortable and one that feels awkward. Too low and you're hunching over your coffee. Too high and your feet are dangling. The good news is there's a simple rule that takes the guesswork out of it.
It all starts with your bench or table height
Before you choose a stool or chair, measure the height of your bench or bar table from the floor to the top of the surface. That number tells you everything you need to know.
The two standard seat heights
Outdoor bar stools and bar chairs typically come in two seat heights: 65cm and 75cm.
- 65cm seat height suits benches and tables up to 100cm high. This is the most common height for breakfast bars, kitchen benches, and lower bar tables.
- 75cm seat height suits benches and tables above 100cm high. You'll find this height used for taller outdoor bar tables and raised entertaining areas.
Most of our bar stools are available in both heights, so once you know your bench height, you'll have plenty of options to choose from.

How to measure
Use a tape measure and measure straight up from the floor to the top of your bench or table surface. That's it. No need to account for overhang or thickness, just floor to top.
What if your bench is over 110cm?
For benches higher than 110cm, a 75cm seat height stool is still your best option. Adding a seat cushion will help bring you up a little closer to the surface and make the seat more comfortable for longer sits.
