Choosing the right sun lounge is more than just picking a style you love. It's about finding one that suits your lifestyle, your outdoor space, and Australia's demanding climate. With so many options available, it can be hard to know where to start.
At Lume Outdoor Living, we carry a curated range of sunlounges across four key materials: aluminium with textilene sling, wicker with plush cushions, teak with optional cushions, and resin. Each has its own strengths, and the right choice depends on how you live outdoors.
Here's what you need to know.
Aluminium Sunlounges with Textilene Sling
If low maintenance and all-weather durability are your priorities, an aluminium sunlounge with a textilene sling is hard to beat.
The powder-coated aluminium frame is lightweight, rust-resistant, and built to handle everything from coastal salt air to intense UV exposure. The textilene sling is a woven mesh fabric that is breathable, quick-drying, and requires virtually no upkeep. No cushions to bring inside, no fabric to worry about in a downpour.
This style is particularly popular around pools, where practicality matters as much as aesthetics. The open weave of the sling also means you won't be lying in a puddle after a swim. Browse our full range of aluminium sunlounges.
Wicker Sunlounges with Cushions
For those who want a sunlounge that feels as good as it looks, wicker with thick cushions delivers a more relaxed, resort-style experience.
Our wicker sunlounges use all-weather synthetic wicker rather than natural rattan, so they're designed to withstand UV exposure and moisture without cracking or fading. Paired with generous cushions in performance outdoor fabrics, they offer a level of comfort that sling sunlounges simply can't match.
The cushions are made from water-repellent, quick-drying Olefin fabric, so while they're not designed to be left out in heavy rain, they recover quickly and resist mould and mildew.
This style suits a more styled, lounge-focused outdoor area. Think a shaded alfresco, a landscaped garden setting, or a deck where you genuinely spend hours relaxing. Browse our full range of wicker sunlounges.
Teak Sunlounges with Optional Cushions
Teak is the gold standard of outdoor furniture timber, and for good reason. It's naturally rich in oils that make it resistant to moisture, insects, and warping without any treatment required. A teak sunlounge is a genuine long-term investment.
Our teak sunlounges have a classic, timeless look that suits both traditional and contemporary outdoor spaces. They're available with optional cushions if you want added comfort, or can be used without for a clean, natural aesthetic.
Over time, teak weathers to a beautiful silver-grey patina if left untreated, or can be maintained with a teak protector to preserve its warm honey tone. Either way, it only gets better with age. Browse our full range of teak sunlounges.
Resin Sunlounges
Resin sunlounges are built to a commercial standard, but that doesn't mean they're only for hotels and resorts. Many homeowners choose them precisely because of that durability, particularly for high-use pool areas or holiday homes that need furniture that can take a beating.
The resin frame is UV-stabilised and completely weatherproof, making it one of the most resilient options available. Within the resin range, you'll find three distinct styles to suit different tastes.
The textilene sling option is breathable and quick-drying, making it a practical choice for poolside use. The resin weave mimics the look of wicker for those who prefer a more textured aesthetic without the maintenance of traditional wicker. And then there's the Slim, an on-trend design that's been turning heads for good reason. Its full resin slat construction and sculpted contour give it a sleek, architectural look that sits somewhere between resort furniture and contemporary design. It's a statement piece that works just as well in a modern backyard as it does at a five-star pool deck.
Some models in this range also feature a higher seat height, which is worth considering if you find low sunlounges difficult to get in and out of, or if you simply prefer a more upright lounging position. Browse our full range of resin sunlounges.

What About Seat Height?
Most sunlounges sit low to the ground, and that's part of their appeal for lounging and sunbathing. However, if you find low seating difficult to get in and out of, or if you simply prefer a more upright position, we carry sunlounges with a higher seat height across several ranges. These offer the same relaxed feel with a little more practicality for everyday use. The Florida sunlounge is available in charcoal or white.
