Our guide to: Small Outdoor Areas

Ever wondered how to make the most of a small outdoor space?

Let's break it down... Most people with a small garden feel frustrated at their lack of outdoor space. Small gardens, petite patios, and narrow balconies may require a little more thought than the larger outdoor areas, but even the tiniest outdoor living room can be transformed into a beautiful oasis where you can relax and enjoy life from.

Our number 1 tip?
Create as much seating as you can. Whether it be custom built bench seating, a comfortable outdoor sofa or a small dining setting, make the most of your living area by providing somewhere to relax. Bring out extra seating when you have guests, or provide large floor pillows or bean bags to encourage relaxation.

Tip 2.
Create vertical gardens or plant tall trees. Drawing the eye upward can help alleviate the closed in feeling that many small backyards, balconies or patios naturally have. Break up the continuous wall space by planting tall trees, in varying heights. Get creative and use vertical gardens attached to the walls.

Tip 3.
Make a small space attractive and ensure a sleek & contemporary look with strong landscaped lines. Create interesting social zones with distinctive materials, such as timber decking, patio slabs and decorative stones or chippings. Then plant up to let lush foliage burst through, filling the space with structural greenery for a controlled finish that’s easy to maintain.
